Cargo Hold Cleaning Solution
Cargo residues, rust, and oil stains are the most common challenges encountered when switching cargoes on bulk carriers. A well-suited cargo hold cleaning system can effectively reduce cleaning time, lower port stay costs, and protect the epoxy coatings within the holds.
SEMPO offers three types of chemical cleaning kits for cargo holds, catering to various operational requirements: a compact handheld kit for precise, localized cleaning; a high-flow handheld unit for versatile, general-purpose use; and a tripod-mounted, long-range foam applicator designed for large-area coverage—minimizing manual labor and eliminating the need for personnel to climb into the holds.
All three systems are compatible with a wide range of acidic and alkaline marine cleaning agents; however, they differ significantly in terms of flow rate, spraying mechanism, and intended application. A detailed comparison is provided below:
Cargo Hold Application Set‑1/2”
Pump port size: 1/2" (DN15, low flow)
Spray boom type: Handheld multi-stage telescopic pole (available in aluminum alloy or carbon fiber)
Core Operational Mode: Low-pressure, close-range spraying; the pump can be detached for use in chemical transfer operations aboard the vessel.
Key Advantages: Compact and lightweight design, requiring minimal storage space; flexible nozzle configuration allows for precise coverage of hard-to-reach areas, such as corners and the reverse sides of structural ribs.
Suitable Vessel Types/Scenarios: Small bulk carriers with limited hold capacity; vessels with restricted storage space; primarily intended for localized cleaning and intermittent use.
Cargo Hold Application Set‑1”
Pump Port Size: 1" (DN25, high-flow capacity)
Spray Lance: Handheld, multi-stage telescopic lance (available in aluminum alloy or carbon fiber)
Standard Nozzles: 5 units (covering a full range from 0° to 60°, including straight-stream and fan-pattern nozzles)
Chemical Compatibility: Resistant to acids, alkalis, solvents, and flammable marine cleaning agents
Key Advantages: High flow rate for efficient, full-compartment chemical application; highly versatile, serving both as a tank-cleaning tool and for liquid transfer
Suitable Vessel Types/Scenarios: Small to medium-sized conventional bulk carriers; operations requiring frequent full-compartment chemical application; scenarios where a single, multi-purpose pump is needed for both cleaning and chemical transfer tasks
Cargo Chemical Cleaning Kit With Platform Base
Pump Port Size: 1" (DN25, high-flow capacity)
Spray Boom Configuration: Short, adjustable-angle boom mounted on a tripod base
Standard Nozzles: 3 specialized long-range foam nozzles, designed for foam soaking, descaling, and the application of temporary protective/isolation coatings
Chemical Compatibility: Compatible with acidic and alkaline foam cleaning agents; safe for use on epoxy-coated cargo holds; effective for removing stubborn residues such as iron ore, coal, cement, oil, and rust
Key Advantages: Ensures uniform foam coverage over large areas; eliminates the need for scaffolding or working at heights; suitable for large cargo holds, as well as offshore platforms and vessel superstructures
Target Applications: Large bulk carriers (Panamax/Post-Panamax); frequent cargo-change hold cleaning; removal of stubborn stains via foam soaking; ideal for reducing crew physical exertion and minimizing the need for working at heights
